Dedicated to the balanced discussion of global warming
Dilbert and his boss once again point out the hypocrisy of life. In this case it is due to trying to be environmentally good.
It is hard to be good. Sorry, Mr. Gore, but it is true. Here are a few inconvenient facts:
I first saw this video of Alan Carlin from the EPA over at Gore Lied. I thought you should take a look.
I think Dr. Carlin looks pretty credible. He is obviously not a great public speaker and he can probably count on one hand the number of times he has been interviewed on national television on one hand. He, wisely, doesn’t do a lot guessing in his interview and he even answers one question by saying that he can only report on what he was told. Good for him – report the facts and let the conclusion grow from there.READ MORE
I originally found out about Chuck Norris and his crusade for drilling on US land and territory by reading an article on The Chilling Effect. As my frequent readers know, I regularly make fun of celebrities that use their “star status” to promote the reduction of global warming influences (Laurie David, Live Earth, Al Gore). Other blogs have gotten into that act as well commenting on Sheryl Crow (here and here) as well as other superstars. In fact, there is a great list of “supporters” that make one start to question the education of any superstar.READ MORE
The US has just listed the Polar Bear as a Threatened Species. It is claimed by some that this is the first species that has been declared threatened by global warming.
I really don’t know if this is good or bad. The arguments from both sides seem quite convincing, in different ways. The pro-endanger side says that since global warming is going to melt the ice that polar bears hunt on, they will start to rapidly decline in numbers and need our protection. The con-endanger group says that there is no evidence to date that polar bears are dying due to ice loss so we are rushing the effort and the polar bear population has increased since the elimination of controlled hunting of the bears. A great discussion of this can be found at The War Over the Polar Bear.READ MORE

I just wrote an article where I discussed that William Gray was being vilified for his comments and stance on global warming. Now I read that his employer, is cutting back on his funding. Dr. Gray says that this is due to his beliefs and accused the school of “capitulation” to the forces of global warming.
I don’t know what Colorado State University has as its true goals in this move. It is almost always possible to assume that hidden motives are in play when it comes to money and quite often the motives are honorable. However in the words of Kurt Cobain:
“Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t after you”

Steven Milroy is the author of Junk Science which is a great site for exploring more information on scientific concepts, particularly on global warming. He also writes a regular column for Fox.
In this column, Steve itemizes the top ten greatest “green” hypocrisies. Personally, I think he is stretching on several of them – especially number 4 since it is impossible with today’s current technology to truly have a worldwide active discussion without physically being co-located. Yes, it is easy to get half a dozen people together online but getting hundreds together is simply a nightmare and not easily handled with today’s bandwidths.READ MORE

When I first read this article, I started laughing. Even now, as I write this post, I am really trying to hold back on my sarcasm in my comments. JunkScience is a blog type site that has developed a huge following. The articles tend to be fairly well written and many of them are also published on FoxNews.com. This article is very interesting in that it discusses a computer model that suggests forests north of 20 degrees lattitude in the Northern Hemisphere CAUSES climate change to the tune of 10 degrees F by the year 2100. I guess I am confused – now climate change is caused by trees?READ MORE
