Cyclone’s Waste Heat Motor

Engadget – June 4, 2008

Cyclone Power Technologies is actively talking about their motor that can gather energy from waste heat. It can also grab energy from non-waste heat and use it to create electricity or propel a vehicle. It is another tool in the arsenal to increase the efficiency and flexibility of our power generation. More effort like this needs to be made available to really reduce our reliance on foreign oil and to reduce our emissions.

Engadget had a video of the motor on their site which I have reproduced below.  But first, let’s look at how this think works.

Global warming may reduce hurricanes hitting U.S.

Reuters – January 23. 2008

What in the world is going on here?!?!?! Do we understand so little about our climate and environment that we can’t even figure out for sure if hurricanes are going to be less frequent or more frequent with global warming? I repeat my call for more effort to truly understand our climate before we spend trillions of dollars to try and change the environment – a sum that will likely cause the death of thousands of people.

This also flies directly into the face of former Vice President Al Gore and his film “An Inconvenient Truth” perhaps Mr. Gore should consider giving back his Nobel since one of his strongest statements and most concerning images in the movie was the certainty that hurricanes would increase and cause more catastrophes such as New Orleans.

Global warming may spur wind shear, sap hurricanes

Reuters – April 17, 2007

To all of those that think we have this climate modeling stuff figured out, I present this article.  Not more than a few weeks ago there were scientists saying that they had linked global warming to an increase in hurricane activity.  Now, a fairly reputable scientists have published in a reputable science journal that the opposite may be true.

If new models show that different logical conclusions may occur, doesn’t it call into question all of the models that are predicting climate change at a catastrophic scale?  I am not stating the global warming is fact or fiction.  I am simply stating that we need a massive effort to truly understand our climate before we enact extremely expensive controls and standards.
