This aritcle can not go unchallenged. He is certainly biased and probably narrow-minded. Just becaues a government panel made up of political apointees and scientists use a model to produce a sensationalist prediction 100 years off, should you rely on that as a basis for your thought process? I guess if you believe that the temperature will rise 5C (9F) then you can lament, "How did we ever get into this fix?". Then you can claim that you know the answer. Not only do you know the answer, but it is simple! Amazingly, it is only the fact that there is more CO2 in the air. And to top it off, it is all man's fault. We put it all in the air. (How much, he doesn't say, but it must be a lot.) Once you believe all his 'facts', then you can support his waxing for the good ol' days when we didn't have electricity, when we weren't so greedy and materialistic. Oh, those evil humans.

Like you advise on this website, he should study the facts. Use critical thinking. Don't listen to politicians. Read both points of view that are supported by facts. Question the Man-made Global Warming THEORY (It is a Theory, not a fact.) Answer some basic questions: (1) Does CO2 in the atmosphere drive temperature or does temperature drive the amount of CO2? (2) How much CO2 is man generated? Do we really have any control over the temperature of the planet? (3) Can you really believe the current climate models? Are they biased by the humans that create the models?
